evangelizing. Adam’s previous Bible study did this during college and found it fruitful in opening the doors to the general public. This is an open invitation, so please feel free to invite your friends! The upcoming Bible Study will be this Thursday, April 27th, at 6:30PM. What to ExpectFirst, we’ll each grab some food from the food court, then eat together. Then we’ll split into smaller groups for the Bible study. This week, we'll be covering the readings for Sunday (April 30th). Readings can be found at: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/043017.cfm. We hope to see you on Thursday!P.S. By: Stephanie QueirozThank you to everyone who joined us last night for Bible study at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine! Eighteen of us gathered together for food, fellowship, and Bible study. It was a pleasure seeing familiar faces & meeting a bunch of new ones. Like all great evenings, we started the evening with pizza for dinner! We then split up into two groups for Bible study, where we covered the readings for this upcoming Palm Sunday. Isaiah 50:4-7 “The Lord God has given me a well-trained tongue…” We discussed ways we try to maintain a well-instructed tongue when interacting with friends, family & colleagues, and how that isn’t always easy. We must remember to start our day with prayer so that God can guide us to speak the truth, and avoid profanity and gossip as much as possible. Philippians 2:6-11 “Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave…” For this passage, we focused on the ways in which we humble ourselves (or fail to do so), and which crosses we have obediently accepted or defiantly denied. It’s difficult to graciously carry our crosses. There are days when we can maintain a Christ-like view of our obstacles - by understanding that grace and strength comes from suffering. But on the other hand, there are also days when we feel that God has given us too much to carry. On these days, we may feel as though we need our own Simon of Cyrene to help ease the burden off of our shoulders, even if for just a moment. Ultimately, Jesus says “whoever wants to be my disciple must take up their cross and follow me” (Mark 8:34). Matthew 26:14 - 27:66 “Those passing by reviled him, shaking their heads and saying… ‘save yourself, if you are the Son of God…'" This week’s Gospel is the entire Passion, so we decided to focus on the crucifixion and death of Jesus (Matthew 27:32-56) in order to leave time for Lectio Divina. Some ideas that were shared include:

Our upcoming Bible study will be this Thursday, April 6th, at 6:30PM. We'll be eating pizza, so please let us know in advance if you plan to attend to make sure we have enough pies! This is an open invitation, so please feel free to invite your friends to join us! What to ExpectFirst, we'll enjoy a meal together in the kitchen. Then we'll split up into groups for the Bible study segment in the Trinity Hall. The focus of each Bible study will be the upcoming Sunday's readings. What is Lectio Divina?During the Bible study, we follow the scriptural practice of Lectio Divina. It’s a way to read the Scriptures that allows us to go deeper into prayer with them. And so we begin with an opening prayer to invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts and minds. From there, we read the 1st & 2nd readings aloud together, and reflect with some questions for each. We then proceed to read the Gospel multiple times for contextual, spiritual and prayerful purposes. For a little more info on the practice, here’s a short video from Ascension Presents. We hope to see you there!P.S. If you’d like to be in direct communication with us, please join in Slack. You can opt in our chat group by reaching out to us from our Contact page.
